WAY Overdue Post

I've needed to write this post for over 2 months and it's finally happening.

Life is crazy sometimes. Last October (the last time I posted anything), we lost Izzy and Ty and I's hearts were just broken. She was our baby. Yes, we had 3 cats, but she was just extra special. And I hate to even say favorite, but she was. She was the sweetest cat I've ever known and I'm so thankful that she limped her way into our lives, home and hearts. We miss her everyday.

Rewind back to a little over 2 months ago, Baxter decided to start acting funny. He was really lazy and sleeping a lot (like Izzy had been before) and then one night after work, he started throwing up foamy stuff. So I decided we were going to the vet in the morning.  I took him in Wednesday morning, February 12th, they took his temp and checked some other things, but didn't think anything was wrong. So she asked if I he'd ever been tested for Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). I didn't think he had, so she ran those and he came back positive with FIV. But she wasn't too concerned. Cats can live with FIV for a long time. They're just more apt to get sick quicker because their immune systems aren't as strong. She ended up giving him a shot to help with nausea (if that's what was making him sick) and said to bring him back if he wasn't doing better by Friday.

And by Friday, he was doing better. He was eating a little and drinking water and still going to the bathroom. He wasn't totally himself, but was better. I thought we were in the clear.  On Sunday night he even jumped up on the couch to lay with me. He had been staying upstairs laying in the hallway for the most part, so I thought this was a good sign.

But by Thursday, February 20th, he was back upstairs in the hallway mostly and I barely saw him eat or drink. On Friday night, I was cleaning the house because Anne and Tonya and their kiddos were coming to visit and he just laid upstairs in the hallway the whole night. I just knew he wasn't okay. I even said to Ty that I didn't think he'd be around much longer. And part of me feels like he was waiting for me to say that.
I fnally went to bed around 2 in the morning. Baxter was laying by the wall in the hallway, so I sat down by him and pet for a good while. Kissed him on the head a million times and told him I loved him and everything would be okay.

And at 7:20 the next morning, February 22nd, Ty woke me up holding Baxter and telling me he was gone.

I lost it. My bubby was gone. I didn't really think he would be gone. I held him and cried while Ty dug a spot to bury him in our backyard. He loved being outside, so we wanted to put him out there.

"Helping" me pull weeds, or just keeping me company. :)

He was such a sweet boy. Once I got past my issues of not letting him go outside (after 20 too many times that he "marked" and Ty said, "LET HIM GO OUTSIDE), he was such a happy cat. He came and went as he pleased. At night when he was inside, he slept at my feet most nights even though I probably kicked him a dozen times. He would bathe Izzy all the time and napped with her often.

He occasionally would try to play with Lexie, but she wasn't having it, so he let her be. He was a sweetheart and we miss him everyday too. I like to think he and Izzy are still buddies up in heaven. We love you bubby! Take care of Izzabelle!!

He loved his daddy. Promise. ;)
