Friday (5/10):
The Bar B Que Fest downtown was going on, so Ty and I walked down to get some yummy, greasy, festival food. It had rained ALL day long, but when we left the sky was clear and the sun was out, so I didn't grab an umbrella or jacket or anything. Bad idea.
After eating some burgoo, corn dog, bbq sandwiches and the most amazing treat ever that I can't believe it's taken me this long to try: Deep Fried Oreos!!, we were heading back through the crowd to go back home. All of a sudden, I realized it was kind of dark over top of us and I felt a sprinkle or two. And then it just came down! We took some shelter under a game tent for a little while. It started to let up and Ty decided he wasn't quite done with food yet, so we headed back (away from our house, btw) towards the food booths in search of something else. It was still kind of raining, but not too bad. We made it about half a block before the downpour came again. So we ran over to the sidewalk and took refuge under a business awning.
Just waiting for the rain to slow down...
It finally slowed down a little and we started walking again. Ty settled on another bbq sandwich with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes, to go. So we got that and started heading home. I had a flip flops and couldn't quite keep up with Ty, so I finally just took them off and prayed I didn't step on anything. I kept looking at Ty the whole way home and laughed. I've never been one to enjoy being caught in the rain, but that night, I just didn't care. It was a blast!
Here we are in all our wet glory once we got home!! haha nice, huh?
Saturday:
Ty got up super early to go play softball in Nashville and called me at 7 saying it was cancelled because of the rain. So he decided to go ahead and go visit his family for the day. I had already made plans to go to Evansville for the rest of the weekend, so I got up and got packed and headed over.
My sister, Krystal, was already there, so I had called her before I left to see if she wanted to go run when I got there. We headed out and did about 2 miles or so. I ran most of it, but it wasn't pretty. I think the delicious oreo's the night before might have had something to do with it. After our run, we were locked out of the house while our mom ran to the bank, so we decided to do an arm and leg workout with an app on my phone called Sworkit outside on the sidewalk. I'm sure the people driving by thought we were crazy, but oh well. We had fun!!
We finally got cleaned up and headed to the mall. I had forgotten the shirt I brought to wear on Sunday, so I had to at least get a new shirt. Well I did that and then some. But most were from Forever 21 and that store is super cheap, so I didn't do too bad. We also hit up Starbucks for half price frappaccino's. Delish!!
We also had to play dress up in Rue 21 and document it of course. :)
Mom and Gerry cooked dinner that night and Katie and Nate were in town and Michelle and the girls came over, so we all ate and hung out for a while. We watched Safe Haven too. SO good! I read the book forever ago and completely forgot what it was about. Even once the movie was over, I couldn't remember the book. haha It was really good though!
Sunday:
Krystal, Michelle, and I got up super early to go to Bob's Gym to work out. Our aunt works there now and had free passes for us, so we decided to use them. Came home and showered and got ready to go to our grandparents' house for Mother's Day. Michelle posted this on my facebook. haha love it!!!
We went to our grandparents', ate ridiculously yummy food and decided to take mini cat naps on the couch afterwards. I guess getting up at 6:30 to work out, wears you out too! We came back home, so Krystal and I could head back to our homes. Mom and I needed a pic together though, so here's what we got! haha
Just kidding. here's a better one!! Love my mom! :)
Mom and her kids and grandkids. :)
I got home and ended up falling asleep on the couch and took a for real nap. Sorry, Ty! :) It was a really good weekend!
I'll do this weekends update sometime this week. :)
