Cruz Tyler: 3 Months Old

Cruz: 3 Month Update

Weight: Not exactly sure, but I would say close to 13 or 14 lbs, maybe!

Length/Height: I'm guessing around 24", not sure though, I haven't measured him.

Eyes: Still a light blue, but sometimes look a little hazel-ish like mine

Hair: Dark Brown and getting more and more!

Clothes: 3 months!!

Diapers: Size 1's still

Likes: Eating, sucking on his hands and fingers, watching Hooplakidz videos on YouTube, sitting in the froggy chair, sleeping in his crib at night (on his belly), walks downtown, having vistors, and Mommy & Daddy!

Dislikes: Riding in his car seat for very long, naps during the day, being put down for too long, being hungry, and riding in his car seat. ha!

I wish I would have done these during the time of him actually being 8-12 weeks old, because trying to go back now and remember what all happened during that time is hard. Mommy brain still. haha!

Let's see...we started out week 8 by celebrating Father's Day. We went to visit Grandpa Ronnie at his house on Saturday and then went to dinner with PawPaw that night. On Sunday we went to Ty's parents to visit with Pappy. We tried to make it to the end of church that morning, but with a blowout on the way, we were late and didn't get to make it to meet everyone.

We also celebrated my 31st birthday. Mom came over to hang out with us that day and Ty tried so hard to stay awake and go to lunch with us, but after opening my gifts, he was exhausted and had to go to sleep. So, Mom, Cruz and I went to a new place downtown, Another Broken Egg Cafe and it was delicious! Cruz did really good and even slept for a little bit while we were there. He woke up and was content for a little while in his car seat, but was over it and I had to hold him for just a little bit. Luckily, I was pretty full by then, so it was fine.

We left Cruz for the first time to go to Romp on a Saturday evening/night. Aunt Michelle came over to watch him and I texted her about every hour to make sure he was okay. We had fun hanging out with friends and listening to some bluegrass, but I missed my baby and was TIRED. We headed home about 12:30 that night. He did pretty good for Aunt Michelle. Had a meltdown, but they both survived it.

He definitely has started becoming more alert this month and smiles when he's talked to and smiled at. He knows his mommy and daddy's voices and his eyes will follow us when we walk by or search for us when he hears our voices.

He celebrated his first holiday, the 4th of July!! And looked so darn cute in his patriotic outfits from Aunt Krystal, especially the sunglasses! OMG! Be still my heart!!!! He was just the cutest thing in the world!!!!!!!!

I soaked up every last second of maternity leave because the day after he turned 12 weeks, I had to go back to work. The Sunday before I pretty much cried off and on all day long and definitely held him for much, much longer that night before putting him to bed. I was so lucky to get to take off 12 weeks and even though some days were tougher than others, I don't regret taking off that long (without pay a week or two also) because I will never get that time of him being a baby back. I got to know him and he got to know me and it was the best 12 weeks of my life, for sure! I wasn't sure that I would be able to function all day without him and after a few stressful nights the first few days of daycare, we got into a routine and everything has been pretty great! But I'll go into more detail of that in Month 4.

So, there we go, we have a 3 month old and life has never been sweeter!! I can't even imagine it getting better, but something tells me it will.

Cruz Tyler: 2 Months Old

Cruz: Two Month Old Update

Weight: At his 2 month (and 3 days) appointment he was 12 lbs 7 oz! He's a growing boy!

Length/Height: 23 3/4"

Eyes: They've lightened to a lighter blue, but they're still blue
Hair: Dark Brown

Clothes: Newborn at first, but we've bumped up to some 3 month outfits too

Diapers: Size 1's

Likes: Eating, all the time. Being outside. Clean diapers. Smiling. Going for walks in the stroller. Being held. Being held while being walked around the room.

Dislikes: Being in the car seat for a long time. Not getting fed fast enough. Taking naps, he fights them during the day like crazy and only sleeps for about 30-45 minutes at a time. Not being held. (whoops!)

Month 2 started out a little rough with him waking up in the middle of the night with a goopy eye. I cleaned it out and nursed him and he fell back asleep, when we woke up again at 5 AM it was worse!! Like, so, so bad! I would clean it out and it would just keep coming back. I googled it and most things said just a clogged tear duct, but my mommy instinct told me it was more than that. Since it was a Friday, I decided to take him to the walk-in clinic at our pediatrician's office and sure enough, he had an ear infection and it was trying to drain out his eye too. So not fun and I had some major mommy guilt. I know it's not anything I did, but I still felt terrible because he just looked so pitiful.

6:00 AM vs 11:30 AM...poor baby!
Luckily, the eye was cleared up by that night and he took the antibiotics like a champ!

He went out to eat at a restaurant for the first time and did okay. I brought a bottle to feed him and he downed it so fast that he screamed like he was still hungry as soon as he finished it. So I took him to the bathroom to nurse him and he spit up like crazy after that. Little boy ate too much!

We continued to go on walks when it was nice, mostly around our neighborhood and downtown. We did go on the greenbelt once while Ty fished. He still LOVES to be outside, so I tried to do that as much as possible until it just started getting too hot or the mosquitos drove us crazy!

He's started to stay awake more during the day and fight naps. That wasn't always fun, but we made it through. He also started sleeping in his crib at night around 5 weeks. I started with naptime and then halfway through the night, I'd put him in there and he did great!! Before I knew it, I was taking the pack-n-play out of our room (thank goodness, there was not enough room for that thing) and he was in his crib all night long!

He smiles more and coos at us sometimes too. It's just the sweetest sound! He's starting to get his own personality and it's just so fun to watch. I love that he knows my voice and Ty's voice and he'll look for me in a room if I'm talking to him. It's the coolest thing to know that I mean so much to this little person. He's my world and I just love him so much I think my heart could explode!

~ Using the swaddle for the first time, he loved it the first few times ~ Coming back in from outside on a cool May evening ~Sweet boy ~ Leaving the doctor after finding out he had an ear infection :( ~ All dressed up to go meet mommy's co-workers
~ At cousin Kelsey's high school graduation ~ Sleeping with daddy ~ Bright eyes ~ Downtown with Aunt KoKo ~ Happy, smiley boy

~ Loves being rocked by his mommy ~ Mommy's little man, for sure! ~ Selfie time ~ Sleeping during a walk ~ This is how we like to shop at Target, in mommy's arms, not our car seat

~ He makes some of the best facial expressions ~ Coolest kid on the block ~ Totally relaxed taking a nap ~ Sleeping with daddy again ~ Baby of the Year, duh!

~ Sticking out my tongue is so fun! ~ Not sure he's supposed to be like this, but he liked it and I held on to him to make sure he didn't go anywhere ~ His favorite place to fall asleep (and I'm totally okay with it!) ~ Happy Naked Boy ~ Mimi's so funny!

~ Little Big Guy with mommy and Mimi downtown ~ NaNa taught Mommy this awesome way to get him to sleep ~ He thinks being outside is AMAZING ~ Clean, cute baby ~ Happy boy

~ Seriously, best way to fall asleep ~ Cutest boy in the world ~ Napping with daddy again ~ Look how big I am sitting up! ~ Being on my tummy is pretty cool too

He's grown up and changed so much this month and it's been so fun to watch!! How it is possible to love him even more, I'll never know, but I totally do!!!

Happy 2 Month Birthday, Cruzer!
