30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 19

Day 19: Something You Miss

I think something that I miss more than anything is being in college at Murray State with my best friends making memories that we will talk about til we're old and gray.
I miss...
Going to Applebee's to have drinks with my girls.
Night's at Nick's
Sundays studying (or talking) on the lawn outside of our dorm.

Living right across the bathroom from this crazy girl.

Parties in "A-town"

21st Birthday Celebrations!!

Dancing it up at good ole Cherokee Hills and Spider's

Night's at the Sigma Chi house with these girls!

Racer Football and Basketball games
Acting like this at house parties. haha Celebrating holidays

And just spending endless amounts of time with these girls, enjoying every second of it. Love them and miss them like crazy!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 18

Day 18: Something You Regret
Wow...this is hard. I really can't think of anything right off the top of my head that I regret.
The only thing that I semi-regret is not getting a 2nd job last fall whenever I knew I need to save money for my wedding that was over a year away. But I didn't feel like it, so I didn't and waited until 7 months before my wedding to do it. It has added a little bit of stress to my life because juggling two jobs, wedding planning and trying to find time to spend with your fiance who works 3rds, is rough.
BUT once May 7, 2011 rolls around and I'm marrying the love of my life and my wedding is exactly how I imagined it. It will be totally worth it.
Life shouldn't be about regrets. Everything we do has a reason for it and every outcome is because that's just how it's supposed to be. There's a reason...

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 16

Day 16: Dream House
It's funny when you buy your first house and before you start really living in it, it's just perfect. you love EVERYTHING about it.
Then you start to find some stuff you don't love. Like, no pantry in the kitchen. No linen closet outside of the bathroom. The closet in your bedroom all of a sudden becomes too small. You and your boyfriend fight over who gets to park in the single car driveway. (haha)
So after living in your first house, you get some really good ideas of what you want from you NEXT house. Your DREAM house.
This is what I would LOVE in my next home...
Brick
2 car garage
3 bedrooms
2 or 2.5 baths
Master Bathroom
Separate bath tub and shower in master bathroom
Walk-in master closet
Pantry in the kitchen
Stainless steel appliances
Cabinets with roll out shelves
LARGE laundry room
Linen closet(s)
Basement or bonus room
Fireplace
and an inground pool would be a nice little bonus. :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 15

Day 15: Bible Verse

I love this verse because it always reminds me of weddings and love and I think it's just important to always remember this...

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 14

Day 14: A Picture You Love

This picture was taken right after Ty and I got engaged July 5, 2009!! He's dressed in his work clothes and we had just spent the whole day in the rain at softball games then a 2 1/2 hour car ride home. I look rough, at least he had had a shower. But I was SO SO HAPPY and excited and surprised that I didn't even care.
Speaking of getting engaged, we just had our engagement pictures taken today and we had a great time!! I can't wait to see them. As soon as I get them, I'll post some to share. :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 13

Day 13: Goals
- Find my passion and start a career doing that, whatever it may be. I enjoy Shoe Carnival, but I just don't know if it's something I want to do for the rest of my life
- Find that career in the same town that I live in
- In a few years, be able to start a family with Ty (In a FEW years, future MIL) :)
- Save up some money for the wedding (that is what the second job is for)
And just an overall everday goal for the rest of my life...
- Live every day like it's my last and always tell the people I love that I love them. I'm going to live my life with no regrets. :)

Day 12: What You Believe
I believe...
...Everything happens for a reason (even though I don't always know that reason at the time).
God is Good.
...Money is nice, but quality time is MUCH better.
...Ty and I aren't perfect, but we will have a wonderful marriage full of love and lots of laughs.
...Ty and I will be some pretty good and fun parents some day.
...I have a slight addiction to coffee. (as I sip some right now)
...I could live off biscuits, rolls and sugar cookies. (but choose not to b/c it's not healthy, or something like that. :) )
...I'm slight OCD at times.
...I have INCREDIBLE friends and family.
...It's Friday and I'm VERY excited about that!
Happy Friday everyone!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 11

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 10

Day 10: Something You're Afraid Of
This is pretty easy for me because it's been a fear of mine forever. Death is something I am totally afraid of. Not necessarily me dying, but people that I love dying. The thought of not having some people in my life anymore scares me so bad. It's just not something that I deal with well. But really, who does...
Sorry to be so morbid today. But on a lighter note, I also fear flat tires. haha Seriously. I've had 3 flat tires in a span of 2 years. Not fun at all!! They give me anxiety!!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 9

Day 9: A Picture of Your Friends
Well I don't have just ONE picture, so here are a few...
Anne, Tonya and I. aka ATL. :)
These two came into my life right at the perfect time. I have INCREDIBLE memories from the last 7 years of our friendship!! They are amazing girls and I'm BLESSED to have them in my life!

And an old school pic for funsies. :)

Danielle, Janelle, Lacy, Sara, Becca, Krystal and Me.

This group of friends I've had since my freshman year at Murray. Janelle and Lacy were new friends and the rest went to Bosse with me. They were all a year or 2 years older than me and just took me under their wings when I got to Murray. We try to get together once or twice a year and it's ALWAYS a great time!! Love these girls to pieces!!!

Three Little Poopies. Me, Danielle, and Anne.

Random and somewhat gross nicknames, but it's been our nicknames for a while and probably always will be. It's ALWAYS a good time when I'm with these two! We definitely have some fun memories of times together, right girls? :)

Sarah! My work BFF.I absolutely ADORE this girl!!! She is so much fun and I definitely would not survive work without her. She's my partner in crime, for sure! Pretty much if you see one of us, the other one isn't too far behind. :)

Danielle, Lindsey, Bridget, Me and Ashlee. My E-ville girls!!
We always, always, ALWAYS have so much fun when we get together. We definitely don't get to do it as often as we'd like, but when we do, it's tons of laughs and good times!!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 8

Day 8: A Place You've Travelled To

Well, I've been to quite a few places, but one of my favorites that I've gotten to visit TWICE because a wonderful friend of mine decided to move there after college. So, I of course had to help her drive across the country and move there and then go back the following summer for a mini vacay to visit beautiful sunny Southern California!!! :)

California is absolutely beautiful! Well at least the Huntington Beach and Pasadena area are, because that's what I got to see. I advise everyone to go there at least once! They don't have humidity or bugs in the summer...swear. ;)

On our 21 or so hour drive to Cali, we took a little detour and stopped at the Grand Canyon. It was the first time I had ever been there so I was really excited. It's incredible and so beautiful!

And my crazy friends thought it would be fun to climb down a little bit and sit practically on the edge of the Grand Canyon. I was scared to death and shaking like crazy, but I made it, and so glad I did. We got this awesome picture out of it! Nice, right?
We also went to Hollywood Blvd. which was an experience. Glad I went though, very cool!
And also to the Santa Monica Pier. Crowded, but really neat too!
This is Huntington Beach where Tonya moved to in 2008. Her apartment was just a few blocks away from this gorgeous scene. Amazing!

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 7

Day 7: Favorite Movies
I have quite a few favorites, so here we go in no particular order...
Finding Nemo
She's The Man
Anchorman
Hangover
Wedding Crashers
The Notebook
Happy Feet
Billy Madison
Tommy Boy
The Other Sister
I'm sure there are more, but that's good enough. :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 6

Day 6: A Picture of Something that Makes Me Happy

THIS makes me Happy!!!

This boy makes me happier than anything in this world!!!! I'm so happy that I get to spend the rest of my life waking up to this smiling face. I love it. I love him!

Muah!! Love you boo boo! :)

Day 4

Oh man, I suck at this.

Well, I don't, I just haven't had time to sit down and write these. Krystal just text me and told me I was behind, so here ya go sister. I just got off work at Johnny B's and I'm staying up so I can do this, then I have to get ready for bed, pack my back for the gym tomorrow and bed time!

So, here we go...

Day 4: Siblings

(Obviously, these aren't all sisters, but this is the only one I had with Katie in it.)
Krystal, Michelle, Katie, Mike, Me and Ty

Well, I have 2 older sisters and 1 older step-sister and they are three amazing women that I am lucky to have in my life.

Krystal is only 2 years older then me, so I would have to say I'm closest to her, for sure. We were at the same schools most of the time and I even followed her footsteps and went to Murray. That's where we actually became friends and not just sisters. I hate that she lives so far away, but we do get to see each other quite a bit b/c she comes home a lot. And I'm okay with that. :) She's very determined and a little bull-headed, but that's helped her get where she is today and I love that about her!! She's going to be living her dream of being an RN very soon and I can't wait for that for her!

Michelle is 5 years older than me and I'm pretty sure I was her favorite sister when we were little. haha Kidding Krystal!! Although, I'm pretty sure she slapped you and bit you more than she did me. haha It took us a little bit to get close, but now we're pretty close and she's definitely one of my best friends. I'm lucky to have 2 sisters that I can call friends! Michelle has definitely not had it easy and she's done an amazing job being a mother to two Incredibly smart and beautiful girls!! They are definitely a product of great parenting!!!

And Katie, she's just great! I met her when I was just a little 6th grader and she was a big RA at Murray State. I remember thinking she was really cool because she went away to college. haha I still think she's pretty cool. She's extremely smart and incredibly driven and I admire that about her. She also has some great taste in music, so I'm looking forward to her coming out with us for my bachelorette party!! :) I think she'll have a great time!

So, there ya go! There are my SISTERS!!

30 Day Blog Challenge

I like to copy, so I saw this on my sister Krystal's blog and I decided to do it too.

It's a 30 Day Blog Challenge that Katie from http://katieslifejourney.blogspot.com/ started. Today is day 4 so I'm a little behind, but I'll try to catch up.

Day 1: Introduce, Recent Picture and 15 Interesting Facts
My name is Lindsay. I'm a 26 year old, 2 job workin' Hoosier living in Kentucky-land and a soon to be (less than 7 months) WIFE.

1. I'm ENGAGED!!
2. My fiance's name is Ty and he has the cutest southern accent that I don't really even notice anymore.
3. I work for Shoe Carnival and about 99% of all of my shoes I buy from there, but surprisingly I don't have a crazy amount of shoes.
4. I live in Kentucky and work in Indiana. It's about a 45 minute drive to work everyday.
5. I dislike slow drivers.
6. I adore my family and friends to NO END!
7. I was a cheerleader all through grade school, middle school and high school.
8. If I could have any job in the world it would be a Celebrity Interviewer/Entertainment Reporter on E! News or something like that. :)
9. I don't really enjoy working out, but I LOVE the feeling afterwards and try to do it often.
10. I have 2 cats, Lexie and Baxter, who are my babies and I love them dearly!!!
11. The only time I have ever been out of the country is when I went on a cruise in 2005 to the Caribbean.
12. When I go shopping, I have buyer's remorse 75% of the time and return it or talk myself out of buying it altogether.
13. My favorite color is pink and is also one of the colors of my wedding.
14. I just recently started working a second job to save money for my wedding.
15. I would drink Starbucks every day if possible. :)

Day 2: Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

Well that's pretty easy...when I get married my new last name will be Porter, hence "Soon to be Mrs. Porter" :)

Day 3: Your First Love

My first love was in high school and it was Brad Watson. I think I started liking him towards the end of my freshman year, his sophomore year. I went out of my way to run into him in the hallways or see him after school. Yeah, I'm subtle like that. I even asked him to go to the Christmas Dance with me my sophomore year and he said yes. haha But I guess it EVENTUALLY worked because he asked me to his Senior Prom and we pretty much started dating then. We were together for about 8 months or so and it was a pretty hard break up, but we are friends now, whenever we see each other, which isn't often at all. But he's a good guy and I want nothing but the best for him and I know he wants the same for me.

Day 4: Your Parents

I have some GREAT parents! My mom and dad got divorced when I was 10 and my mom got re-married to my step-dad, Gerry (or Gerr Bear as I like to call him) when I was 14.

My Mom.

I've always been very close to my mom and use to have crazy anxiety when she would leave or I would have to leave her when I was little. Luckily, I grew out of that, I still don't like to be away from her for a long time, so it's a good thing I still work in Evansville and get to see her pretty often. She's my mom, but also one of my best friends, and just recently has become my Wedding Planner. She crazy organized and has kept us on a pretty good schedule to get things together for my wedding. I love her like crazy and cannot imagine not having the great relationship with her that I do. I love you, Mom. You're the best!

My Dad.

My dear daddio, aka. Dale Earnhardt look-a-like. :) At least that's what all my friends say. I love my soft-spoken, go with the flow, dad. I'm not as close with him as I am my mom but I think that has a lot to do with me being a girl and living with my mom mostly after my parents got divorced. But of course, that doesn't mean he's any less important to me. I know I can always go to my dad for anything. He's my Mr. Fix It and my moving guy. I love that about him. He'll always drop whatever he's doing to come fix a flat tire for me, or change my burnt out headlight, or move a mattress. He's also a pretty fun guy to play Scrabble with. That's what I enjoy most with my dad. Just sitting at his house with him, snacking and playing Scrabble. :) Love you daddio!!

My Step-Dad, Gerr Bear.

Oh Gerr Bear, where do I even start with him?? I will say, we had a rough start. It's hard having a new parent thrown into your life as a teenager and I definitely wasn't the nicest to him. Thank goodness, I grew up and learned to appreciate him and everything that he did for my mom, my sisters, my nieces and myself. I enjoy playing Words with Friends with him everyday, even though he kicks my butt 90% of the time. (And I think he enjoys that part even more.) He's a great man and I'm glad my mom has him, but even more glad he has my mom. ;) I love you Gerr Bear!!

Alright, now I'm all caught up. Tomorrow: Siblings

Happy Thursday everyone!

J-O-B Numero Dos!

So, I finally got a second job to save some money for the wedding. I just don't have enough extra each month at Shoe Carnival to save a substantial amount of money, so I decided to give up my weekends and a few nights during to week to wait tables at a local restaurant in O-town...
Johnny B's.

I went in last week and filled out an application on Wednesday, got called on Friday to come in for an interview on Saturday, and started training on Sunday. Sweet. Works for me!

The place is a lot like Nick's (sports bars-y kind of place) where I worked during my summers off from college and a few months right after I graduated, so I feel super comfortable in that atmosphere.

Only downfall (besides not having a life anymore)...I have to wear shirts with this on it...

Sorry, Gerr Bear...you know I'm still a Hoosier at heart!! (just don't tell my customers or bosses that. :) )

Go IU!!!!!!
