Cruz Tyler: 7 Months Old

Cruz: 7 Month Update

Milestones:

  • Sitting up for a few seconds on his own, but still not completely independent
  • Says "DaDa" or "GaGa" all the time! I try to get him to say "MaMa" and it comes out GaGa. Close enough. I'll let daddy be the lucky one. :)
  • Tried prunes, pears, butternut squash and bananas. Was okay with all of them, but liked the bananas best.
  • Tried a green bean and gummed it for a while.
  • Still rolling from back to belly easily and belly to back a little more, but not that often
  • Turning himself in a circle while on his belly
  • Put himself to sleep a few times at night time. Woo hoo!!! This was a big deal for mommy
  • Got an amber teething necklace and I feel like it's really helped.
  • Loves to shake his head "no, no, no". I can usually get him to copy me doing it too and it's so cute!
  • Celebrated his first Halloween, as Maverick from Top Gun, by just hanging out at Mimi & PawPaw's giving out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters (Daddy was working)
  • Will put out his hands to have you pick him up or hold him (so sweet!)
  • Still loves bouncing like a fool in his jumperoo

I know I said this last month, but this month has been my favorite with Cruz!! He just gets more and more personality every day and it just so much fun to be around! How this little bitty boy that can't even say real words is so much fun, I have no idea, but he really is the best!

~ All dressed up for church ~ Just hanging out while mommy gets ready for work ~ Ummm, daddy, this hat is too big! ~ Sweet snuggles before work/daycare ~ We found a little something hiding in Cruz's crib when I laid him down for bed one night!

Cute boy decked out in all his Halloween wear the week of Halloween! Gosh, he's cute!

And then here he is in his actual Halloween costume, Maverick, from Top Gun! OMG! Is he not just the cutest?!?! Ah, I could just eat him some! So freaking adorable!!!!!!

I dressed him up long enough to take some pictures and hand out candy to a few trick-or-treaters at my Mom and step-dad's house. I would keep him in this outfit and shades forever if I could. He's just so cute!! (biased, I know. :))

~ The result of putting himself to sleep one night - backwards and in a puddle of his own slobber ~ Shopping at... Target with Mommy, of course! ~ Can't ever get enough sleepy snuggles with my boy ~ Hanging out at Mimi and PawPaw's! ~ Happy boy in his Christmas jammies! (gotta wear them now before we grow out of them!)
~ Happy 1st Birthday, Parker!! ~ Looking pretty stylish at Parker's birthday party! ~ Big boy!! ~ Haha these boys are too cute! Parker isn't too sure what's on Cruz's head! ;) ~ Trying to take a selfie, but he wouldn't look. Stinker!
~Looking cute in my Rookie outfit before daycare. ~ After spitting up at daycare and rolling his head in it, Ms. Ashley had to wash his hair and couldn't remember which way I parted it. He looked pretty cute when I walked in and saw him like this though! ~ Sunday morning snuggles ~ Big boy sitting up on mommy and daddy's bed in the cutest little jacket!

As much as I wish he would stay little, he gets more and more fun everyday!!! And bigger!! I love this stage that we're in right now. Interactive, but not mobile! Can he stay like this forever?? ha!

Happy 7 Months, baby boy!!! You are so loved and we are so lucky to call you our little boy! Life would be so boring without you!

We love you, Cruz Tyler!

Cruz Tyler: 6 Months Old

Cruz: 6 Months Old

And just like that, our baby boy is HALF A YEAR old!!!! How is that even possible??? This has been the best, quickest, most tiring, but most rewarding 6 months of my entire life. I never knew this little boy could hold such a BIG place in my heart. Although I haven't had a solid night of sleep since the day he was born, it's totally worth it. He won't always want me in the middle of the night, so I'm going to take advantage of it while I can. And drink lots of coffee in the process. :)

Milestones:

  • Bounces like a champ in his bouncer and when he's standing in your lap
  • Sitting up ALMOST all by himself. Can at least balance for a few seconds, so I call that a win
  • Has found his voice and loves to squeal!
  • Tried sweet peas, carrots, and avocado. Only somewhat liked the carrots
  • Rolled over from his belly to back once. Still not so good at that, but rolls from back to belly pretty much the second you put him on his back.
  • Went to Lake Cumberland for the weekend with daddy's family and saw his first waterfall
  • "Camped" with mommy's family at Audobon State Park
  • Graduated to the big seat in the stroller and not his car seat (Big step for mom!)
  • Working really hard on cutting a tooth. We think we can kind of feel one on the bottom, but nothing has popped through yet.

I think I said this last month, but this month has been the most fun so far!!! Cruz is really starting to develop his personality and he is so fun! And so darn cute!! I mean, I could just go on and on and on about how great he is! My heart could just explode with how much love I have for him!

This month we also experienced a loss in our family with the passing of my grandpa, my mom's dad. He was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and his health had been going up and down since. In the last few months it just kept going down. On Friday, October 1st, they brought in Hospice to their home because breathing had become so hard for him and he's so bullheaded, he didn't want to stay at the hospital. :) That next day, SAturday 10/2, Cruz and I were in Indiana for a baby shower and my mom called to tell us we should probably come out to see Grandpa because he wasn't doing well at all. We did and I'm so glad. He lit up when he saw Cruz and it was probably one of the best moments I've experienced with my Grandpa. He talked to him a little bit and reached for his hand. It was so sweet. That night, he passed away. I'm so thankful I got to see him one last time and that Cruz did too. I know he won't remember him at all, but I'll be sure to remind him of his Grandpa Mo and how much he loved to tease us about "eatin' ice cream."

But Cruz was totally the star of the show at the visitation and I think it helped to have him around to keep everyone's spirits up. I know he helped me. :) He's just so cute and sweet, you can't help but smile when you're around him.:)

And as always, here are a million pictures this month:
~ I could snuggle him all day long ~ Look at that little booty ~ Mohawk after a bath ~ "I'll just stick my tongue out and taste this toy!" ~ Hey Bright Eyes!
~ Cumberland Falls on a cold, rainy day ~ Just hanging out on my belly ~ Porter family pic ~ And our little family all in blue

~ Boxes are fun to play with! ~ Lexie has decided everything in Cruz's room is hers to lay on ~ Cool kid! ~ Sweet boy in his button down ~ The first day of October means "Halloween" clothes
~ Sitting up with a little help from the boppy ~ First time sitting in the stroller like a big boy ~ Mommy containing me in my camping chair so she can clean ~ Watching YouTube videos after I got tire of sitting in the chair while Mommy cleans ~ Coffee and walks downtown!

~ This boy! (Heart eyes emoticon) (Just realized this was in the collage above this one too. Oh well, it's cute enough to put on here twice. ha!) ~ Napping at daycare ~ Excited to try pears! ~ Hanging with Mommy by the river ~ Tummy time!
~ Excited for "camping"! ~ Could he be any cuter?!?! ~ Nap time with my cousin, Maddie ~ All the cousins: Maddie, Nate, Cruz, Kelsey
Camping at Audobon State Park!

Big boy sitting up all by himself!!! He's getting better at it everyday!

Happy 1/2 Birthday baby boy!! You absolutely are our greatest accomplishment! We are so lucky to be your parents! We love you to the moon and back!!!

Cruz Tyler: 5 Months Old

Cruz: 5 Months Old

I'm going to do it a little different this time and talk about the milestones he's hit, because I feel like he did a lot this month!!!

Milestones:

  • Tried rice cereal and sweet potatoes
  • Rolled from back to belly for Daddy once and then at daycare a few times, then FINALLY rolled over for me to see on his 5 Month Birthday!!!
  • Grabs hair and tries to grab our noses and anything on our faces.
  • Has found his feet and loves to "pat" them. It's so cute! Doesn't really grab them too much yet.
  • Likes to take his paci out of his mouth, but can quite figure out how to put it back in
  • Went "swimming" for the first time and seemed to like it
  • So close to sitting up on his own
  • "Ran" aka rode in the stroller, his first (of many, I'm sure) 5K's with Mommy

Every month with this boy is fun, but I think month 5 has been the best so far!! He's just getting so much personality and getting so fun! His little smile and belly laughs are the best!! Sometimes in the mornings when he wakes up, I'll go in his room and he has his little head up and I'll say "Good Morning, bubba!" and he'll grin so big! It's just the sweetest! I could just eat him up. He's so stinkin' adorable!!

He had his 4 month checkup this month and he's doing great!!! He was over 15 lbs and and 26 1/2" long. Dr. Dulabh gave us the okay to start him on rice cereal, so I did and he didn't hate it, but he didn't love it either. He did really well eating from a spoon though! I had to hold his hands a few times because he wanted to help me. Ha! After cereal a few weeks, I decided to try him on sweet potatoes that I made myself and we got pretty much the same reaction. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. I think I'm going to try butternut squash or pumpkin next. We'll see!

This month he also got a "jumperoo/excersaucer" from his Nana and Pappy! It's HUGE, but he seems to like it. He bounces a little bit, but is more interested in playing with the toys, which is great too!

We went to Cruz's friend, Parker's house, for a Labor Day/Pool party and he got to swim for the first time. I tried him out in a little float first and he wasn't too sure about it, so I got him out and held him. He liked it! The water wasn't too cold, so I think that helped! Guess we need to buy a house with a pool, since he liked it! ;) The party was fun! We got to meet my friend Lindsey's little girl, Savannah who is about a month older than Cruz. She was 4 weeks early, so she's petite and so, so sweet! They both seemed to like each other!

We had the Porter Family Reunion also and most of the family finally got to meet Cruz and some friends from church made a special stop by the reunion to meet him too! He was a hit (like we knew he would be) and loved on by many that day!
~Passed out ~ Hanging out with his buddy Parker at the consignment sale in Newburgh ~ "Let's hold hands!" ~ "I got the ring...finally!" ~ Sweet boy after a nap
~ Happy boy before daycare! ~ Eating wears him out! ~ At our 4 Month checkup ~ Trying cereal for the 1st time. So big in his high chair! ~ Oh, I love this toy!
~ Needed to sleep with Mommy one morning ~ His morning face! ha! He smiled about 2 seconds after that when he saw me. ~ Going for a walk ~ Playing in his new jumperoo ~ Sportin' his baseball cap
~ Little model getting ready to swim ~ "This pool's pretty cool, I guess." ~ Nap time with daddy at the Labor Day party ~ Twinning with my bestie! ~ Savannah claimed him as her boyfriend right away
~Sporting his UK onesie for the first football game of the year ~ Playing in the kitchen while mommy cooks or does dishes ~ Tummy Time ~ Those eyes!!! Gosh, I just love this boy so much!!!! ~ Happy morning boy!
~"Hey Mommy! Whatcha doin' here??" ~ "Mmmm, these sunglasses are yummy!" ~ Just hanging out with Nana and Pappy ~ Stopping to see Mimi and PawPaw on our way home from Evansville ~ Getting to walk across the blue bridge
~Just sporting the cutest mohawk ever after bath time! ~ So close to sitting up by himself ~ Happy, happy nakey boy! ~ Those cheeks! ~ Cute boy in his monogrammed jacket

~ "I can roll over!" ~ He's definitely OUR MVP!!! ~ Sweet boy in his Polo outfit he borrowed from Parker! ~ Our first 5K together...didn't do too shabby! ~ Just riding along during the 5K!

This boy just gets cuter, sweeter, and bigger everyday!!! Life with him is so much fun!! We love you, bubby, more than you will ever know!!!!

Happy 5 Month Birthday, Cruzer!

Cruz Tyler: 4 Months Old

**Since Cruz will be 5 months old in 2 days, I figured I should get his 4 Month Old post up...so here you go! I'll get these on time some day!

Cruz: 4 Months Old

Weight: 15lbs 9oz

Length/Height: 26 1/2"

Eyes: Starting to be a little more hazel-ish, I think.
Hair: Brown and just keeps getting more. I love it!

Clothes: 3-6 months!!

Diapers: Moved up to size 2's this month

Likes: Weekends with Mommy and Daddy, playing with his friends and Ms. Carolyn at daycare, eating, sucking and chewing on anything and everything especially his hands, going for walks in the stroller, having visitors to hold him and make him laugh

Dislikes: There really isn't a whole lot that he dislikes. Still isn't a fan of being in his car seat for too long. If he's really tired, he gets pretty fussy. But other than that, he's a really, really happy baby!

Month 4 was a big adjustment for all of us, with me going back to work and Cruz starting daycare, but it didn't really take long for us to get into a "routine" somewhat. I'm so glad that I get to go see him on my lunch break everyday. That has definitely helped and he's always in the best mood when I go see him. Some nights he's just so worn out from daycare (because he doesn't nap very well), that I don't really get to "hang out" with him in the evenings b/c he naps and/or falls asleep early or he's fussy. As this month went on, he's gotten better about napping more and being more awake at night.

He continues to suck and chew on his hands and toys constantly! I don't feel anything on his gums and they don't look swollen at all, but he's defnitely working on teething, I think. We just are covered in slobber constantly! ha!

Just Cruz and I took our first little road trip down to Katie's for a "sister weekend" at the end of July! The trip down was great, back wasn't as good. About the last 40 minutes of the drive, I had to hold my phone back by him so he could watch HooplaKidz video on YouTube! haha! The things we do to make our kids happy. And then about 5 minutes from home he finally fell asleep. Of course.

We've kept up our walks downtown and I even took him to 2 parks to walk/run with the stroller. Wow!! That was not easy, but I went ahead and signed us up for a 5K on September 19th! So pray that we both survive. ha!

We also had to spend our first day at home because of a fever. It didn't really seem like it bothered him too bad. He was just extra snuggly and extra sleepy that day. The next morning he was back to normal. Thank goodness!

~ Sweet baby going on a walk ~ Just staring at the mobile while mommy gets ready for work ~ Lunch time snuggling at daycare ~ Little Big Guy spit up all over this outfit on the way to daycare and had to change as soon as we got there! ha! ~ My happy Target shopping buddy!

~Bath Time ~ Cruzer size camping chair ~ Mmmm, my hand is so good! ~ So is this fishy! Loves sitting in the froggy chair ~ Holding mommy's hand while I nap :)

~Sitting just like my daddy! Love this! ~ Happy boy! ~ Watching HooplaKidz with Pappy ~ Loving our new embroidered bibs from Becca Jo! ~ Love this little sweet profile so much!

~ Hanging out with my cousin, Nate ~ Relaxing with a full belly at Aunt Katie's ~ Baby and Tiaras! ~ Sister Weekend group pic before we picked up Nater ~ Slobbery mess, but so so cute!

~ Dinner with Mommy & Daddy at The Rustic ~ Why are you sitting back here with me, Mom? ~ XOXO ~ One Cool Dude on a walk ~ Knocked out after daycare

~ I swear we don't pose them like twins! Like father, like son, right?! ~ Cute little baby booty ~ Sleepy boy watching me get ready one morning ~ Playing in his blow up pool outside...with no water ~ Nike baby

~ Heart eyes emoji times 100000! Love this boy so much!!! ~ The afternoon that he had a fever, he was happy as could be! ~ Sweet boy at daycare ~ Snuggling with mommy when he had a fever ~ Just going on a walk, wearing my shades, chewing on my favorite toy, the usual.

He grew up so much this 4th month, it's just crazy!!! Can't believe how big he's getting!
Look how big he's gotten and how much he's changed!! Ahhh, I just don't think I could love him any more!!!!

Happy 4 Month Birthday, Buddy! We love you more than you will ever know!

Cruz Tyler: 3 Months Old

Cruz: 3 Month Update

Weight: Not exactly sure, but I would say close to 13 or 14 lbs, maybe!

Length/Height: I'm guessing around 24", not sure though, I haven't measured him.

Eyes: Still a light blue, but sometimes look a little hazel-ish like mine

Hair: Dark Brown and getting more and more!

Clothes: 3 months!!

Diapers: Size 1's still

Likes: Eating, sucking on his hands and fingers, watching Hooplakidz videos on YouTube, sitting in the froggy chair, sleeping in his crib at night (on his belly), walks downtown, having vistors, and Mommy & Daddy!

Dislikes: Riding in his car seat for very long, naps during the day, being put down for too long, being hungry, and riding in his car seat. ha!

I wish I would have done these during the time of him actually being 8-12 weeks old, because trying to go back now and remember what all happened during that time is hard. Mommy brain still. haha!

Let's see...we started out week 8 by celebrating Father's Day. We went to visit Grandpa Ronnie at his house on Saturday and then went to dinner with PawPaw that night. On Sunday we went to Ty's parents to visit with Pappy. We tried to make it to the end of church that morning, but with a blowout on the way, we were late and didn't get to make it to meet everyone.

We also celebrated my 31st birthday. Mom came over to hang out with us that day and Ty tried so hard to stay awake and go to lunch with us, but after opening my gifts, he was exhausted and had to go to sleep. So, Mom, Cruz and I went to a new place downtown, Another Broken Egg Cafe and it was delicious! Cruz did really good and even slept for a little bit while we were there. He woke up and was content for a little while in his car seat, but was over it and I had to hold him for just a little bit. Luckily, I was pretty full by then, so it was fine.

We left Cruz for the first time to go to Romp on a Saturday evening/night. Aunt Michelle came over to watch him and I texted her about every hour to make sure he was okay. We had fun hanging out with friends and listening to some bluegrass, but I missed my baby and was TIRED. We headed home about 12:30 that night. He did pretty good for Aunt Michelle. Had a meltdown, but they both survived it.

He definitely has started becoming more alert this month and smiles when he's talked to and smiled at. He knows his mommy and daddy's voices and his eyes will follow us when we walk by or search for us when he hears our voices.

He celebrated his first holiday, the 4th of July!! And looked so darn cute in his patriotic outfits from Aunt Krystal, especially the sunglasses! OMG! Be still my heart!!!! He was just the cutest thing in the world!!!!!!!!

I soaked up every last second of maternity leave because the day after he turned 12 weeks, I had to go back to work. The Sunday before I pretty much cried off and on all day long and definitely held him for much, much longer that night before putting him to bed. I was so lucky to get to take off 12 weeks and even though some days were tougher than others, I don't regret taking off that long (without pay a week or two also) because I will never get that time of him being a baby back. I got to know him and he got to know me and it was the best 12 weeks of my life, for sure! I wasn't sure that I would be able to function all day without him and after a few stressful nights the first few days of daycare, we got into a routine and everything has been pretty great! But I'll go into more detail of that in Month 4.

So, there we go, we have a 3 month old and life has never been sweeter!! I can't even imagine it getting better, but something tells me it will.

~Happy Father's Day, Daddy ~ Big boy hanging out in the bouncy ~ Wearing a 3 mos sleeper, getting so big ~ Cool dude in his shades ~ My sleepy baby

~ Funny convos with Daddy ~ That sweet smile ~ They both fell asleep like this, so sweet! ~ Happy Birthday, Mommy ~ Just hanging out with Mom and Mimi at lunch at Another Broken Egg

~ Breakfast picnic on the kitchen floor ~ How cute and business like does he look in his pinstripes?!?! Swoon! ~ Tummy time ~ Matching with my buddy, Parker ~ Kentucky made sweet baby

~ Just hanging out with Mom ~ Our little family ~ Hanging with Auntie G and Uncle J watching HooplaKidz videos (the only thing that would make him happy the 2nd night after daycare) ~ I'm dressed and ready to go to daycare! ~ Enjoying my last night of maternity leave snuggling my baby for way longer than normal

~ After bath cutie! ~ We survived our first day back to work and daycare...barely! ~ His shirt says it all ;) ~ Cutest Little Fella I know ~ Sleepy boy

I didn't think he could get cuter, but look at him! Biased much? Yes, maybe, but every mom is, right?

This little boy is just the sweetest boy in the world and every minute with him is just the best. Even when he won't stop crying and I just want to cry with him (which isn't very often, ha!).

Happy 3 Months, Bubba! We love you more than you will ever know!
